"As a proud resident of Freeport, I hold an Associate's degree in Allied Health Sciences and have been actively engaged in preserving and celebrating Long Island traditions for over a decade. I have been part of Los Amigos del Amargue for 28 years. I continue to perform as one of the band’s lead singers. The band is dedicated to preserving Dominican music, specifically bachata and merengue, utilizing acoustic guitars to maintain the authentic sound.
Throughout my musical journey, I’ve had the privilege of mentoring young teens in basic Latin percussion, helping nurture the next generation of musicians. My performances span a wide range of venues, including private events, libraries, schools, museums, and parks, allowing me to connect with diverse audiences.
I also had the enriching experience of a one-year apprenticeship working closely alongside my father, Luis Cordero, founder of Los Amigos del Amargue, which deepened my musical expertise and understanding. Additionally, I have performed alongside my husband, who is the lead guitarist of Los Amigos del Amargue, and my brother, where I showcased new original compositions written by myself and my sibling.
These experiences have been instrumental in shaping my musical career and my ongoing dedication to Latin music and community involvement."
