| Harry Saarinen: Clamshell artist and fish welder | |||||
|
Harry Saarinen lives in Amity Harbor in Amityville, where he has a panoramic view of Great South Bay, a view he grew up with. Like other "bay rats" Harry went clamming, fishing and killeying with his father and friends. His love of nature and the water led him to create many kinds of artworks that were based on his experiences. As a welder, Harry makes spectacular fish made of steel that are hand forged with metal and fire. Harry also paints intricate maritime scenes on skimmer clams. His work has been exhibited at local libraries, and has been the subject of various newspaper articles. You can hook up to Harrys web site at www.harrysaarinen.com. |
